The Site of a Proposed Five-Story Building
The Site of a Proposed Five-Story Building
The site was previously home to a single-story building and a small parking lot. Quarry Hill Conservancy, up the hill behind the shop, is visible from throughout downtown Middleton.
The structure now gone, the small size of the lot is much more apparent, as well as its proximity to the hill, which supports the Quarry Hill Conservancy which sits above.
The concrete slab, the footprint left behind by Vern’s Autobody, ends where the hill begins.
The excavator adds perspective to the size of the lot.
The proposed building would come right up to the edge of the sidewalk and stand five stories, completely obstructing any view of Quarry Hill Conservancy from the surrounding neighborhood and downtown. The cement barrier marks where a one-car garage entrance existed, for size reference.
Removing the hill will require removing this urban canopy.
Because of the portion of the hill that would need to be removed to construct this building, any trees growing there now would also be removed. And this could be the new view of Quarry Hill Conservancy. Save the Hill.
